Setting up a torrent client to interact with SickGear

rTorrent + Autotools integration

Goal

Have an exclusive location for SickGear access for optimum performance.

How it works

This method copies select files to an isolated location for SickGear to post process with the 'Move' episode method so that all the existing seeding files are not post processed over and over. Using this greatly improves overall performance.

Requirements

Autotools on your rTorrent installation (Tested with rT 3.8)

Set up AutoTools to copy as follows...

a) Enable the option Enable "Automove" if torrent's label matches filter
b) Specify a label in the format /TV/ this value must match that set in SickGear (see 7)
c) In Path to finished downloads select the same as Completed TV downloads (see 2)
d) Set the Operation type to Copy

Note: The label TV in (b) is surrounded by slashes

For SickGear to move the isolated copy to a final parent show location...

  1. Navigate to the Post Processing Config page
  2. Make sure the Completed TV downloads folder is the same as (c) above
  3. Set Process episode method as Move
  4. Enable Scan and post process
  5. Navigate to the Search Config page, and select the Torrent Results tab
  6. Select rTorrent in Send .torrent files to: and set connection details to suit
  7. Enter the value set in (b) BUT without slashes (e.g. TV) to match into field Set torrent label
  8. Make sure the field "Downloaded files location" is empty

To recap...

  • Completed downloads are copied from a seeding location to an isolated location
  • SickGear will 'Move' processed content from isolation to the final show location

Done.
