- US is now using the open-sdg Jekyll build! Considering how to publicise this widely, but not until UK is using it.
- Brock using ReadTheDocs to manage multiple versions of markdown-based documentation for open-sdg.
- Possible workflow for introducing features: Countries can develop locally (as overrides) and then, when appropriate, propose introducing feature to Open SDG via Github issues and pull-requests.
- Open SDG will use "semantic versioning" with each release, and countries can "tag" the version of Open SDG in the config.yml files. This guards against updates to open-sdg going live without a country’s permission – they can choose whether to update their repo.
- We could guard against open-sdg pull requests going through using a ‘consensus’ approach. We can only merge PRs if two or more people approve the change.
- Action: Brock to set up review requirements for pull-requests
- Action: Brock to draft graphical architecture diagram
- Brock Leaflet map has had several new features based on feedback from UK SDGs and ONS Geography, including geojson download, legend, fullscreen, scale and timeline.
- Original maps now removed from UK site, except for the ones worked on by ONS Geography (Maptemplates).
- Leaflet maps will read from the CSVs uploaded to NRP.
- US not intending to use mapping in the near future, but UK could use the Leaflet map when ready.
- Work has just started looking at providing solution for exchanging data and metadata using SDMX eg looking at latest Data Structure Definition (DSD) produced by the UN SDMX working group.
- The first SDMX priority is exporting our data in SDMX format. Data apprentice Lucy Gwilliam (ONS) has now produced a trial SDMX indicator from our data and metadata.
- ONS new developer is due to start 4 March. Looking to bring in contractor resources as an interim solution.
- Reporting Status simplified in Sandpit, overriding layout options from open-sdg to replace the ‘red amber green’.
- Circle CI suitable for US because of the FedRAMPs (security standardisation).
- UK uses Travis CI
- In "Quick Start" for Open SDG docs, Brock details CircleCI setup, because it did not involve Ruby installation.
- Action: Ann to investigate with Information Assurance whether there is anything relevant to FedRAMPs in the UK.
- Planning visit to Rwanda 21-24 January
- Having meetings with UNSD this month to discuss the DfID-UNSD project and how best to coordinate ONS support for Rwanda and Ghana. Advising on metadata template to improve upload efficiency to reporting sites.
