Minutes

Project updates:

  • The LT got a short update on project finances. The LT also continued the discussion on overhead rates.

Subproject updates:

  • Training

    • The training subproject is working on the Zeek Approved training framework. Furthermore, the training subgroup is planning to polish the training for Zeek Week. If it is ready quickly enough, we might also already run the Zeek Week training through the Zeek Approved Training process.
    • A number of ideas in the subgroup were brought up by different community members.
    • If you are interested in more details, please view the meeting notes of the training subgroup that are, e.g., available in the #training channel in Slack.
  • Testing

    • The subgroup is set up and ready – it will be used to beta-test the 4.1 release. Every member of the group has a parallel infrastructure to run a test version of Zeek, in addition to their production Zeek instance.

Zeek Week:

  • The LT was updated on the current state of Zeek Week; the Call for Participation is out – if you want to present at Zeek Week, please submit your presentation idea by August 3, 2021 6pm Pacific.

Formal meeting with the merge-masters:

  • So far, the Zeek LT has no formal meeting with the merge-master; instead the information exchange is happening on an ad-hoc basis and often relies on the fact that some of the merge-masters are also on the LT.
  • We are going to start setting up periodic meetings between the Zeek LT and the merge-master, for a two-way exchange about the state of the Zeek project, to inform each other about ongoing projects and to talk about potential project ideas.
  • During our discussion it was brought up that not everyone might realize that the LT is happy to be contacted with questions and feedback. Please note that you can always contact the entire Zeek Leadership team by emailing [email protected]. If you do not want to write to the entire LT, please also feel free to reach out to individual members of the LT.
  • We are also going to highlight this during Zeek Week this year.

Mission/Vision:

  • The LT continued its discussion of the Mission/Vision/Values statement that we have been working on for the past months. The statement is nearly finished – we are going to re-visit it in one of the next meetings to see if everyone still finds that the wording works well.
