Minutes

New Documentation Walkthrough:

  • The work on the Book Of Zeek project is continuing. A number of people signed up to write content for different topic areas.
  • Things are on track for a February 1st release.
  • In the future, we plan to require the documentation to be updated before each new Zeek release. A new Zeek release will not be completed until the documentation is updated.
  • Eventually, the documentation will be available as a complete book-type reference.

Zeek Week 2021 action areas:

  • Members of the LT signed up for different action areas for Zeek Week; there are a few remaining areas that will need filled in the future.
  • We will probably have different BoFs at ZeekWeek. We will set up folders with placeholders for topics.
  • As discussed in the last meeting, we plan to have a series of emails for new community members. Amber set up folders with empty documents where we can put snippets that will be converted into emails in the future.

Stats update:

  • 20 Minute talks length: we got very positive feedback; this is seen as being more engaging.
  • People with especially high attended talks will be asked to hold a webinar about the topic in the future.
  • Website statistics: we have about 80% new and 20% returning visitors. To encourage people to come back to the website we should consider consistently adding new content.
  • Apart from that, we are gaining followers/stars, etc. everywhere.
  • Plan: End of Year report for community that includes details about what changed over the year. We will do this each year going forward.

Zeek.org move to our own GSuite account:

  • No big problems so far, we are on track to do this in the next weeks.
  • Cost: ~$1000/year.

Next Zeek release:

  • Code freeze at the beginning of December.
  • If there is anything pressing, make sure there is a ticket.

Meeting notes:

  • We will put the notes on the GitHub Zeek wiki instead of the website, and link it from the website.

Resource collection:

  • Johanna is compiling a list of all the services we use.
