12V STC modification
Due to the power transformer design, it is easy to convert any STC-1000 to a 12V unit. Simply desolder the the transformer, (the four points at the end of the red lines). Be careful, don't use to much heat or force, or you will lift solder pads. And bridge the connections as shown by the red lines above. You now feed 12V to the screw terminal that normally accept mains power to feed the unit. AC or DC (or the polarity of DC) doesn't matter, as the rectifier will take care of that.
