Excused: Bram van der Heijde, Michael Mans, Igor Sartori
Overview of DESTEST report template
- The DESTEST use case report describes the model and its simulation results in detail, such that others can reproduce the model.
- Find someone to test the report. Is it reproduceable? Maybe Enora, someone else from Project 1, or students can test it. We could launch the idea at the next Expert meeting.
- Do we need a Discussion section? No, this document serves to help others reproduce the models, we don't need to explain the causes of differences between different models. Conclusion: it is OK as it is.
- How much detail is required? We could share the models, and add the link to the models in the report. Avoid the Appendix becoming too long.
Setting up the first DESTEST report
- First step: Authors BS paper copy-paste text to the template.
- Second step: Add more detail
- Ina and Felix distribute the work for the Building and Network side.
Result collection in the Google Docs
- Problem 1: A bit slow, but OK for now.
- Problem 2: Google Doc figures are not compatible with Excel. Solution: either work in Google Docs, or download data and make your own figures in Excel.
- Possible alternative for the future: Write a Python script to load data and plot figures. (Jupyter notebook?)
Building subgroup
- Modelling our first building in CityGML Energy ADE format Karl-Heinz and Joachim are on it, They are working on our 2 zone models. The simulation in their toolchain (EnergyPlus) will give us extra results.
- Ina will generate occupant schedules (before first case report is finished)
- Michael works on diversification of building stock (after case description is finished)
Network subgroup
- got Enora's results on heat losses closer to the rest
- Working on the two extra KPI's. Some problems with the pressure at the critical substation, how to define it when using ideal decentralised pumps? Solution: look at pressure head of the pumps in the substation
- In the future: go to a more detailed approach with a more realistic modelling of the mass flow rates/pressure losses.
- New cases: wait for first case report to decide
Deadlines, meetings and others
- Deadline for the first case report: in one month, so 11/06/2019
- Other things to do for next coordination meeting:
- Ina generates occupant schedules
- The KPI's for the network modelling group are defined and calculated for the first case
- Annelies works on the substation models
- Next coordination meeting: around the first week of July

DESTEST case report 1
- General description is more or less done
- Ina completes the work of Oystein on the section "Building geometry"
- Oystein works on the section "Thermal quality"
- Ina works on the section "Occupancy"
- Alessandro works on the section "HVAC system"
- Enora works on the section "Results" (Ina will send Python files to Enora for graphs)
- Still looking for someone to work on the section "Key performance indicators"
- Everyone adds a short description of their own models to the section "Comparative study"
- Deadline to complete report is next Tuesday 11 June
NEXT STEP 1: Stochastic occupancy behavior and building envelope
- Ina modeled 16 different occupancy profiles using Python-based tool STROBE. The question is twofold:
- is 16 profiles too much? or good? > Good
- how to exchange these 16 profiles with the different Modelica libraries and simulation tools? It looks like it is not a problem for other Modelica libraries and DIMOSIM, but it might be tricky for IDA ICE (decided that Oystein won't model all 16 profiles in IDA ICE).
- Ina will upload the files with 16 occupancy profiles next week
- It is expected that each participant will carry out the new simulations using these stochastic profiles by the next expert meeting in Rome (except for Oystein in IDA ICE)
- Ina will provide 3 different building envelopes, probably based on TABULA (mainly changing insulation thickness)
NEXT STEP 2: Office building
- Michael will send a summary of the office building currently used in TEASER. After that, we will discuss which is the best approach for implementing the model in the different simulation environments (we would like to automate the process, but probably not always possible).
- Aiming to model and simulate the office building by the next expert meeting in Rome
ACTIONS
- By June 11:
- All: finish first case report (see above)
- Ina: send description of the stochastic occupant profiles to everyone, so they can take a look and start modelling
- By next Coordination meeting, July 2:
- Ina: present variations in thermal insulation on the single-family dwelling
- Michael: send description of office building somewhere before meeting, so everyone can read and we can discuss during the meeting
- By Rome meeting, September 1:
- All: model and simulate the stochastic occupant profiles
- All: model and simulate the office building
Follow-up
- Ina has sent a description and an overview of the 16 proposed stochastic occupant profiles to the group. All details can be found here.
