Some picostation boards, such as Mancloud's PCB were having an issue booting reliably. rama reached out with a suggested fix which seems to have resolved that issue.

Backend changes, moving away from volatiles in favor of pseudo atomics library. Add crc calculation, audio control function. Project now targeting C++ 20, upgraded to GCC 12.3.1. Should work more or less the same as 11/28 release.
