Usability Testing & Findings
Moderated Usability Test, prompting user to perform certain tasks in order to obtain user goal while also phrasing questions to evaluate the effectiveness of a design and test assumptions while helping the user feel comfortable with the process.
6 (six) international students, age between 19-21 years old.

How do you look for information as a newcomer in Brisbane?
Answer: Mostly Google and Facebook groups. -
As an international student, have you heard of an online platform to connect international students together like UQ Mates before?
Answer: 5 said yes, 1 said no. -
How is your engagement in UQ’s internal website/groups (online or offline)?
Answer: Pretty general. Most of the participants say they are just there to view content, some leave comments to interesting post and asking some questions related to their course. -
What do you usually look for in UQ’s internal group?
Answer: Interestingly enough, 4 out of 6 participants said they are interested in the marketplace-based section of the group, where they could find things to buy/sell, and people looking/leasing accommodation. Others respond that they like to see what is on in their faculty, especially on job placement information. -
What is your impression of a platform designed to accommodate international students to connect with locals?
Answer: They think it may be a good idea. -
What features are you looking forward to using if we plan on creating that platform?
Answer: Exchange knowledge and ideas.
