This topic describes terminology for use in
- heads up displays

- location views
- Longitudinal axis
- Tip: Hold the device up in front of you with two hands like your holding a steering wheel, and look at the screen. Rotate the device around screen center, like you would turn a steering wheel from left to right.
- Direction of a distant object relative to the current course
- Direction of travel
- A yaw rotation is a movement around the yaw axis of a rigid body that changes the direction it is pointing, to the left or right of its direction of motion.

- Tip: Hold the device up in front of you with two hands like your holding a steering wheel, and look at the screen. Push your left hand back and forward (and alternatively righ hand), rotating the device around is vertical centerline.
- North-south position of a point on the earths surface
- East-west position of a point on the earths surface
- Height of ground above mean sea level
- Height of feature above mean sea level or ground (depends on data)
- horizontal distance traveled by an object over time
- Rate of change in altitude - ascent or descent
- Angle on horizontal plane between magnetic north and true north
