Updates

• Nicole: Working on particle advection seed placement

• Nicole: Working on a uniform grid resampling filter

• Nicole needs to start working on Material Interface Reconstruction in Ascent for CEA/NNSA due Q2Y24.

  • Wording: "Implement material interface reconstruction in VTK-m for Ascent"

• User from National Center for High Technology was having issues using expressions

  • Added a new filter to create a derived field that is a power of the original field
  • Still may be having issues not getting the derived field results from the expression
  • Noticed interesting query workflow: Queries always happen first if unattached to a pipeline, if attached to pipeline the results go nowhere.
  • Need to formalize Query vs. Expression use cases and workflow
    • Expression language used for expressions and queries

• Cyrus completing CI spack changes when he can (waiting on Umpire-- released last week)

• Cyrus worked on RAJA data binning

• Andres + Argonne + Utah state for steering

• NASA bug with striding; need to circle back

• Unstructured meshes with heterogeneous data types

• We plan to release Ascent 0.9.3 in March!

• Hank invited to participate in PSAP proposal

  • Focus on ML + Ascent

  • Nicole: Send out a poll, start with once a month
• Old:

  • Meghanto's PR for sampling we need to get in. (Sampling is also in VTK-m, so we would need to migrate some changes there as well)

    • In use for research/paper

  • Meghanto's has Python extract to create GLFTs (only works for iso surfaces)

    • Semi-frozen based on Meghanto's time constraints, may try to hand-off to Cyrus

  • Possible future: Manish to get shadow volume rendering into ascent
