This checker will use your default ruby command, so in case that's not the version you want you can override it as follows (example for 1.9 on Debian-based systems):

let g:syntastic_ruby_exec = 'ruby1.9.1'

If using rvm/rbenv, you can pass in a path directly to the executable for the ruby version you'd prefer to use:

let g:syntastic_ruby_exec = '/usr/local/var/rbenv/versions/2.0.0-p481/bin/ruby'

Please note however that g:syntastic_ruby_exec is also used by the eruby/ruby checker. If you don't want to override the ruby executable for both checkers, you can set g:syntastic_ruby_mri_exec instead:

let g:syntastic_ruby_mri_exec = '/usr/local/var/rbenv/versions/2.0.0-p481/bin/ruby'
