## What is "geospatial data"?

Data sets that explicitly contain some sort of precision location elements are often titled "geospatial data" as they, as the name implies, tie a data point to a specific place. Normally, but not always, this is a place on the Earth, and geospatial data formats often involve mapping of some kind. If the words "Shapefile", "GeoJSON" or "GeoTIFF" mean anything to you, then you've probably already worked with geospatial data.
