Distros

  • 1 would use this as an opportunity to upgrade to Debian Stretch
  • 1 tracks Debian stable (currently Stretch)
  • 1 is Ubuntu 16.04
  • 1 is RHEL 6.9 (most likely using EPEL repos)

Plus devs and devs acting as testers on things that aren't Windows.

PyPI

Is a nonstarter for one Debian Stretch user and the RHEL user.

Library support

Note: Debian and Ubuntu support backports, which allows to have recent versions of packages in stable/old releases. I don't know if there's a similar thing in RH.

Python 3

  • Debian stretch (stable): 3.5.3
  • Ubuntu xenial (16.04 LTS) 3.5.1
  • RHEL 6 3.4.5 ?
  • Debian Jessie has Requests 2.4.3
  • Debian Streth has 2.12.4
  • Ubuntu Xenial (16.04 LTS) has 2.9.1
  • Ubuntu Trusty (14.04 LTS) has 2.2.1
  • EPEL for RH 6 seems to have 2.12 (scroll all the way down)

.

  • SOCKS5 support in Requests was added in 2.10
  • Tor supports HTTPTunnelPort as of 0.3.2.1-alpha, and it can be used to tunnel HTTPS (might have been common knowledge to everyone else)

Stem

  • Debian stretch 1.5.3
  • Debian stretch backports: no version so far
  • Ubuntu Xenial (16.04 LTS) 1.4.1
  • Ubuntu xenial backports: no version so far
  • EPEL for RH 6 seems to have 1.2.2 (look for python-stem)

PySocks

Filelock

(Do we even need this?)
