This is the initial release of zzz, a micro framework for building networked services. This is still alpha software and should be treated as such, but it is running on real hardware here. zzz is meant to be useful for both writing general networked applications while also remaining viable for embedded and bare-metal use-cases.
HTTP/1.1
This initial version ships with a very fast and purely Zig HTTP/1.1 implementation. This protocol implementation should be fairly stable but is missing some core functionality that might be nice to have for HTTP/1.1.
This includes but is not limited to:
TLS
zzz ships with support for TLS through BearSSL (and by porting it). This allows us to have TLS implementation that is abtracted away from the I/O, allowing for whatever Async and Socket primitives you are using to handle any of the I/O.
Async Model
zzz uses an event loop with async callbacks as the method to achieve fast and scalable performance. This is done by implementing an Async struct, that contains pointers to various different methods that get called during the servers lifetime. There will be more about the Async mode here (add link to blog post about modular async)
This initial version includes a (mostly) functional IO Uring backend. For any other platforms, you will have to implement a custom backend. There is an example of a Custom backend provided and can be extended to support pretty much any I/O abstraction.
The Async model needs to implement FS functionality for async reading and writing of files.
