OpenSUSE uses NDB, the rest uses SQLITE. CentOS Stream 8 still uses BDB but support for BDB has been removed from more recent versions of rpm. We opt to also use SQLITE for CentOS Stream 8 which means the rpm db will not be writable anymore using rpm inside a CentOS Stream 8 image. As a workaround, the db can be rebuilt in BDB format in a finalize chroot script by running "rpm --rebuilddb".
