Welcome! 👋

I am Botspot - a Raspberry Pi user, self-taught shell scripter, and broke college student. :)

My dream is for Linux to become just as widespread as Windows or Mac OS for personal computing, and to have it run well on even the cheapest Single Board Computers under $100.
Much of my free time in high school and (now) college has been invested into making free, easy-to-use programs for everyone's benefit. ❤️

For years I was opposed to receiving donations of any kind, for fear that my joy found in coding would be replaced with anxiety to keep the sponsors happy. This year I am willing to try, due to unforeseen circumstances. Now you have a chance to give back.
You love Pi-Apps? You love BVM or any one of my other Free Open Source Software projects? Sponsor me with any amount you feel is fair.

Why allow donations now?

Reasonable question. It's not a long story. I'm the oldest child. Despite being adult age, my parents forbade me from making my own choices. Instead they continually overturned many of my decisions, and ended up burning a lot of bridges and friendships in the process. Eventually it reached a breaking point, and I said this needs to stop.
In response, my parents handed me an eviction notice on January 1st 2025, and I later learned that they have decided to cut ties nearly completely. I was forced to buy a car, rent a storage unit, and start working part-time, while continuing to study Engineering full-time. The rest of my savings went to car insurance and buying food. And now the car needs repairs.
For the next few months I can live at my university, but once Spring classes end, I will not have a sure place to live. Apart from working as a janitor, I have a little eBay side business, but it's not going to be enough.

I will continue working on Free Useful Shell Scripts until the money runs out, in which case I might try to move in with a friend, or just become homeless maybe. With your support it won't have to come to that. Even $5 would make a difference if everyone reading this did it.

What if I don't have a Github account?

That's fine. Donate with PayPal - No account needed.

Or if crypto is your thing, send some Monero XMR coin to this wallet address:

$5 a month

Select

$5/month is a small, easy way to say "Thank you!"
If a lot of people did this, it would add up.

$50 a month

Select

Less than $2 a day. This is a good way to say "Thank you!"

$200 a month

Select

An even bigger way to say "Thank you!"
For $200/month I could try to offer you personalized help, prioritize your requests, or add your name to some READMEs, but I'm a very busy guy so no promises. :)
