master

Contains the source for the latest released version.

next

This branch contains the latest changes. If a feature is small the development could happen directly on this branch but a topic branch is the preferred way for new features. When everything is stable and we release a new version this branch will be merged with master. SNAPSHOT builds take the source code from this branch.

topic xy

New features are developed in a topic branch and when stable merged with the next branch.
