* s/source/\./
* s/which/command \-v/g
Opt:
* s/echo/printf
* s/$VAR/"${VAR}"/g

About the optional, I quote every var because I prefer this way, few cases they need to expand. Preferring printf for compability with more OS.

vanguards_parallel.sh is using #!/bin/sh, so why not setup.sh.
