table2features

creates BDD feature files from an Excel table

usage

  • open table2features.xlsm with macros activated
  • create a table with 4 columns domains, aggregates, features and scenarios
  • select the domain in the first row of your table
  • run the macro 'exportFeatures'

system requirements

I tried the macro with Excel 2011 for Mac on Mac OS 10.11 and Excel 2007 on Windows 7. For MAC Excel 2016 please see the installation notes below. The script should work with newer versions of MS Excel for Windows too.

how to setup featuremap_xl for MAC Excel 2016

Because MAC Excel 2016 is no longer able to access file from inside VBA (e.g. writing .features files) you have to use an external script for this. So please copy the file table2features.scpt from folder mac_office_2016 from this release to <root>:<user>:Library:Application Scripts:com.microsoft.Excel . Hint: on most Macs <root> is known as "Macintosh HD".

background

The script was made for the case when you have to model an existing system. If the system has a lot of features it is quite exhausting to cerate every feature file manually. To save some effort you might now list all features in a table and let the script create all the file for you.

The Excel file table2features.xlsm contains a sample table. If you run the macro you should receive feature files like in doc/sample_data_features/.
