- FPZip : "Think of fpzip as the floating-point analogue to PNG image compression and zfp as advanced JPEG for floating-point arrays."
- mtscomp : If fpzip/zfp are PNG/JPEG analogues, mtscomp seems to be more of an MP3 / audio compression analogue.
