AMS is the Advanced Mac Substitute, a trap-level emulator for Mac OS.

This repository contains various 68K executables needed to run Mac apps using AMS.

Applications

• Welcome is a parody of the "Welcome to Macintosh" loading screen.
• Tic-tac-toe is a Tic-tac-toe board with multiple Undo and saved games.
• Black Knight's Chess is a playable chess board (including castling, pawn promotion, and en passant capture).
• Organ Console is a demonstration of the Sound Driver's four-tone synthesizer.
• Nyanochrome Cat is a black and white adaptation of Christopher Torres' Nyan Cat animation.
• IAGO is a Reversi game released to the public domain by David Reed in 1984.

• ams-ui includes various facilities to support a user interface:

• ams-snd is the Sound Manager.
• ams-dsat is the System Error Handler.
• ams-print is the Printing Manager (though only a stub).
• umsp is the User-Mode Service Package, which emulates privileged instructions that access the Status Register.
• vdb is a debugger.

Command-line programs

• app launches a Mac application.
• 'BNDL'-unpacking tools:
  • get-bndl-pwner extracts the application signature code.
  • get-bndl-icon retrieves the 'ICN#' data for a specific file type.
• hello is not needed by AMS, nor vice versa. It's just a hand-coded 68K Hello World program, useful for testing that xv68k works.
