New group proposed to replace and broaden the existing DjangoCon Europe support group. Key differences:

Similarities:

  • DjangoCon Europe organizer proposals voting remains with the Board
  • Event grants requests remains with the Board

We’re looking for members now. There is some urgency in getting this up and running as we have a lot of ongoing activities that could use support, namely:

  • DjangoCon Africa coming up in August
  • DjangoCon Europe 2026 organizing kickstart
  • DjangoCon Europe 2027 call for organizers

I'm just going to mention Django on the Med 🏖️ here too. It's not really an official event (currently) and I'm not sure what help we need (currently) but it's happening, and is maybe relevant. 🦄

❤️ it says Django in the name so certainly Django-related enough that it’d be cool for this group to provide some support! Let me / us know if / when you’d like publicity for the event for starters

Thank you @thibaudcolas for this proposal ✨
I just add a small addition, but otherwise looks sensible to me.
