Ok so then is this a popularity contest or an open source software self hosting community? I thought this was a project that cared about open source self hosted software which is exactly what Hyperfy is and has hundreds of users currently who benefit from Coolify and all support the platform in whatever way we can including adding to the user count. Just think it would be nice to support each other since our communities align. or so I thought. |
I think the maintainers have a minimum threshold for officially adding services. I understand their pov since they don't want every self-hostable service to be added. I mean the services page within coolify already takes a couple seconds to load, perhaps they dont want to bloat that further, hence the minimum threshold. But I also understand your pov as a cryptobro entrepreneur aiming for more adaptation. If you want my personal advice; make the perfect docker-compose (with all the env vars compatible with coolify) and have it in hyperfy docs with clear instructions on how to use it in a new (empty docker compose) service within coolify. Maybe even record a tutorial on how to set it up so normies can follow along. All that while you gain more popularity until hyperfy meets the minimum threshold to be added officially. Best of luck 🌹 |
This has nothing to do with your judgement of being a "cryptobro entrepreneur". In reality if you knew me you would know I'm a Self-hosting advocate who loved game development and wants to see a self hosted web based game engine thrive and be easily accessible for people to enjoy and build with and share their experiences.... I guess that makes me a cryptobro tho.... This isnt about clout or popularity it's about respect amongst open-source self hosting community and not being talked down to and told we are small or "cryptobros" and need to "gain more popularity". I hope you realize why that comes off disrespectfully. |
@HowieDuhzit oh my sincere apologies, I honestly didn't think cryptobro is a derogatory term. I've seen "codebro" or "linuxbro" etc in memes I see other's not minding the term and I assumed wrong with "cryptobro". I'm sorry. I admire a one-man band in the open-source space. And I didn't mean to talk down on your creations, they're astounding and unique. I suppose the only logical reason for the strict selection of which services to be listed by the maintainers is due to bloating, because I see the services page take a noticeable time to load and that will either impose an unnecessary ceiling or just longer loading times as more services are added. So I think there are one of two solutions:
Maybe a json would suffice and be much faster. But then we have to call the docker-compose of the service selected. This way the user can see all services in a milisecond (I'm assuming json will be very light) and we only do the fetching of the other info after the user selects a service. I'm just spitballing here, I will have to take a look at the code. |
All good, yea sadly "cryptobro" is generally used in a derogatory way and to be fair rightfully so the crypto space is sadly full of nonsense but that's irrelevant. I'm not the Hyperfy creator it was made by https://github.com/ashconnell who is mostly a one-man band himeself in this. In my case the service load immediately not sure that's even an issue TBH but I can understand it is getting long a better organization method for them as it gets longer would be great I think. Maybe categories? |
@HowieDuhzit Yeah categories would be nice UI/UX. Although I just visited the services page in a fresh server and it was quite quick. So I think the loading time depends on how busy my filled server is. I took a glimpse at the code and it's fetching from CDN with a local .json file as a fallback. There's a lot of potential here in the services list. I think we should welcome almost everyone to be able to list a publicly usable template. Similar to how the Gllama MCP directory is https://glama.ai/mcp/servers there can be easy conditions to meet, like:
So most people can get 2 out of 3 checks. And people can see which to use based on the requirements they prefer. I think Sanity CMS was listed inside coolify but then removed for legal reasons i think. So the question is, if we make an external directory, would sanity (and other) would still ask for their template to be taken down? |
I wish to get Hyperfy listed on the Services. I've inquired about this in the past and was rejected for a reason I feel is not explained well and unfair

I'm not sure what he means by "too small".

Our user base is growing toward Coolify day by day and having us on the list will Expand the use of your product as it makes it simple for our users to deploy their self hosted worlds.
Please reconsider my request and also note I have update the Compose file to be even more Coolify friendly and compliant.
Thank you!
