Banana Operating System (OS)

Banana is a 32-bit graphical hobby operating system (OS) written for x86 and x86-64 comptuers, written in C and C++, which can be ran on real hardware. The kernel is pre-emptive and supports loading ELF drivers and modules from the disk. It comes with an installer which can be run from floppies or a CD-ROM.

It comes with a number of built in applications, such as minesweeper, a photo viewer and solitaire.

System Requirements:

  • 486 or better CPU
  • 12MB or more RAM
  • 64MB hard drive space
  • Floppy or CD drive for installation
  • VGA compatible display

Hardware support includes:

  • Full ACPI support
  • ATA/ATAPI/SATA/SATAPI disks
  • FAT, exFAT, ISO9660
  • PS/2 keyboard and mouse
  • Soundblaster 16, AC97 audio
