I. GENERAL INFORMATION:

sitemap_gen.pl

version 1.0

The sitemap_gen.pl script analyzes your web server and generates one or more 
Sitemap files.  These files are XML listings of content you make available on 
your web server.  The files can be directly submitted to search engines as 
hints for the search engine web crawlers as they index your web site.  This 
can result in better coverage of your web content in search engine indices, 
and less of your bandwidth spent doing it.

II. USAGE:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
perl sitemap_gen.pl --config=config.xml [--help] [--testing]
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

 --testing 
	If you're testing your configuration and are not ready to submit your Sitemap, 
	this parameter (--testing) will prevent Sitemap Generator from contacting Google:
	
	i.e.
	Windows
	c:\> perl sitemap_gen.pl --config=config.xml --testing
	
	Unix
	[admin@admin html]$ perl sitemap_gen.pl --config=config.xml --testing

In order to execute the tool a configuration file must be created. Directions

III. REQUIREMENTS:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

The script requires perl 5.8.0 or higher.
It also requires the following perl modules installed on your machine:

1.  Digest::MD5
2.  Encode
3.  File::Find
4.  File::Glob
5.  File::Spec
6.  Getopt::Long
7.  LWP::Simple
8.  URI::URL
9.  URI::Escape
10. XML::SAX

Additionaly, it is possible that you require some of the following "on-demand" 
perl libraries. In other words, these libraries are needed only if you use some 
specific funcionallity of this script:

11. Compress::Zlib
  - This module is needed if you specify an input or output file that is compressed using gzip. 
  - For example: store_into="/var/www/docroot/sitemap.xml.gz"
12. IDNA::Punycode
  - This module is needed if you use an International Domain Name (IDN):
  - For example: http://www.güero.com
13. Win32::MBCS
  - This module is needed if you run this script in a Win32 platform.

Existing limitations about this version:
The script has been tested only in UNIX and Windows platforms.
