A database of Mitochondrial Proteins Associated with Diseases
The mitoPADdb is a manually curated database that provides comprehensive information on 810 mitochondrial protein-encoding (MPE) genes associated with 1793 disease terms. It contains information on mutations and expressional variations of MPE genes at both the mRNA and protein levels. The database classifies the diseases linked with mitochondrial proteins into 14 broad categories.

The data statistics of mitoPADdb is available in the Statistics page. Please refer to the Help page for understanding the data and usage of mitoPADdb. It allows users to access the data using two ways -
-
Search option: The search option allows the users top search the database with Gene symbol, UniProt accession, or both.
The search option provides information about 18356 mutations, 1284 expressional variations (mRNA and protein levels) with experimental samples and techniques, and associated diseases with source identifiers.
-
Browse options: The browse options allow users to access these data along with disease-gene-pathway links and differential genes’ expression heatmap across 317 disease studies, in following ways.
- Gene symbol
- Pathway name
- Disease category name
- Disease category-wise MPE gene expression heatmap
- Disease category-pairwise comparison of MPE gene expression heatmap
