Consumer Disclosure in Ecommerce Customer Journeys

Mission

To develop and prototype a product that the WG community deems worthy to address consumer disclosure gaps between products and its end-users (the mainstream audience) and foster more sustainable supply chains. To build on top of previous efforts around the e-commerce entry point for user adoption.

Existing body of work

Considerable work has been done during 2019 team contributions and research work of several that has led to progress in the development of several e-commerce related concepts

  • Consumer Disclosure Contracts for Sustainable Supply Chains
    Addresses the following problem:
    • Unsustainable supply chains contribute to environmental footprints
    • Develop a model to track supply chains and rebalance the information asymmetry

As a solution it proposes a disclosure framework from primary material upto the finished product delivered to the customer .

  • Informing the customer in E-commerce : browser extension
    A browser extension concept that lets consumers understand the environmental and social impact of the purchases they are going to make

  • Enabling the consumer offseting his/ her C impact
    Project CO2ken helps by envisioning a carbon-backed currency

Progressing in 2020

The working groups met from May through July 2020 to

  • Induct the teams on the work done till this time
  • Generate ideas for further development of the various projects. These are collected in the idea sheet

Objectives for 2020

    • Identify unsolved problems
  • Create a product roadmap:
    • Identify data sources
    • Create a product architecture:
      • Create data connectors/APIs
      • Create front-end models e.g. plugin/website
  • Create a working prototype
  • Market Reach:
    • Identify prospective partners
    • Present prototype to prospective partners
  • Expand working group and contributions

Next actions

  • The ideas collected above are translated to actionable issues in this project repository
  • Resulting from the design / exercise an epic / user story backlog will continually emerge, which will be packaged in a lightweight project structure
