This release introduces a brand-new Windows app! We've been hard at work this month creating a Windows version of Parabolic using WinUI 3 and the WindowsAppSDK and we are very happy with it. We've worked out issues that we have had in the past with WinUI, i.e distributing the app via the Microsoft Store, and are able to publish an exe app installer just like traditional Windows applications! Try it out below :)

Besides the new Windows version, Parabolic has gained many features and fixes regarding subtitles, url validation, and quality selection of downloads. Read about it all below!

Back to Windows + Many Fixes πŸͺŸ

Beta 2 of V2023.11.0 is here!

Compared to beta 1, this release includes many features and fixes for subtitles. We added the ability for users to turn off downloading auto-generated subtitles, to ensure Parabolic only downloads truly translated ones. For users who continue to use auto-generated subtitles, we improved the way Parabolic looks for and downloads these auto-generated subtitles. With these new settings, we also improved the layout of the Preferences dialog to make it easier to find your options.

For WinUI, the installer was updated to setup python dependencies from within the installer instead of within the app itself. This leads to even faster startup times for the app!
