Changelog

  • Fixed a critical security vulnerability related to Log4j (CVE-2021-44228).
  • Added handling of two new Minecraft arguments (clientId and xuid).
  • Added handling of spaces in the path to the game directory.

If you are using Linux and have a cropped window issue (like this), use the largewindow version of the launcher.

If you have Minecraft clients downloaded using older versions of the launcher, you need to redownload them using the new launcher version in order to fix the security vulnerability mentioned in the changelog. All new downloads will be protected against the vulnerability by default.

Keep in mind that new Minecraft versions (1.17 and newer) require at least Java 16, they don't work on older Java versions. In contrast, old Minecraft versions might not work with new Java versions.
