If you prefer playing Daggerfall with more classic style, or just want to improve performance on an older PC, then give Retro Mode a whirl.

Step 1 - Pause Game and Open Effect Settings

Pause Daggerfall Unity (default Escape key) and click the "hamburger" icon at top left of screen. Then select the Effect Settings option.

Step 2 - Enable Retro Mode and Options

Select the Retro Mode page of Effect Settings and use Mode slider to enable 320x200 or 640x400 mode. Optionally set a preferred aspect ratio of 4:3 or 16:10, and a VGA postprocess mode.

Step 3 - Optionally Enable ColorBoost

This effect ramps brightness near the player and can produce rapid draw distance falloff in dungeons. If you remember Daggerfall's dungeons being darker than in Daggerfall Unity, this is a function of the short draw distance falling off quickly to black in DOS version. Use the following ColorBoost settings to simulate this effect in Daggerfall Unity. Try experimenting with sliders to dial in the effect to your preference.
