@cmsj, with the release of High Sierra expected later this month, if there is any way possible, I think we should start thinking about getting 0.9.56 out sooner rather than later. I'll take a close look at what's currently an existing pull and see about merging them, but we usually have a couple of weeks of transition with a new OS and a new XCode release and I think it would be easier if we weren't in the middle of adding things at the same time.

Just my thoughts, feel free to disagree or offer counterarguments.

@asmagill agreed, we should get a release out before High Sierra. I'm away next week, which will be when the GM comes out, so let's target later this week for 0.9.56 and we'll just go with whatever has landed in time, rather than waiting.

I'd like to see about the current pulls (primarily dark mode and applescript as I think dialog may still be undergoing too many changes atm -- @latenitefilms chime in if you feel otherwise) but otherwise, I don't have anything else that I'm planning to have ready... a couple of items for 0.9.57 and maybe a couple of spoons before then, but nothing I specifically want before upgrading to High Sierra myself and seeing what breaks 😝

@asmagill - I'd like to get hs.dialog into Hammerspoon sooner rather than later, so I've removed the Font Panel from the original issue/branch, and put it in it's own issue/branch.

Since hs.dialog is new, we can mark it as experimental in the docs and feel no guilt for changing its API in 0.9.57 :)

Haha, works for me! If you do have any ideas or suggestions though, feel more than free to tweak yourself, or add a comment in the issue and I'll try my best to implement. Also, if you have any ideas on how to make the font panel work, let me know!

So, we're down to the only thing being open in here as: #1498 which I don't think needs to be a release blocker. I haven't done anything on it and I'm unlikely to. Sorry!

@asmagill any last minute items? If not I can shoot for a release tomorrow :)

I am working on a cfpreferences based module that might end up being able to replace hs.settings and hs.plist altogether and it will support archived data (at least to the same extent that hs.pasteboard does) but I've kind of gotten sidetracked and it's on hold for the moment; certainly not far enough along to include even as experimental in this release. So, I agree that if all that is holding us back is #1498, then I vote to move it to the 0.9.57 release and close this puppy out.

@latenitefilms I haven't had a chance to look at the font dialog stuff yet - I'm curious to know more about it, but let's do that over on that PR rather than here.
