Windows Server 2012 R2 Install and Setup Guide

Update Operating System

Updates through Windows Update Service

Search > Windows Update

1. Change from automatic updates to “Download updates but let me choose whether to install them”

2. Begin Updates, will take several hours to complete.

Configure Operating System

Disable Firewall

Search > Firewall > Windows Firewall

Turn off Firewall for both "Home or Work" and "Public Networks"

Install SNMP

Server Manager > Add Features > SNMP and all included items

Configure SNMP

Services > SNMP > Properties

1. Agent Tab:

Contact – Ryan Oakes
Location – Corresponding DC
Ensure all service boxes are checked including ‘physical’ and ‘datalink and subnetwork’ which are unchecked by default

2. Traps Tab:

Community Name – redtail
Add to list (be sure redtail is lower case)

3. Security Tab:

Accepted Community Names > Add > redtail
Leave "READ ONLY" default
Check ‘Accept SNMP packets from any host’
Apply > OK

Install OpenManage

Install OpenManage v8.3

Get Installation file from Admin Box > Run Executable
