Kindle Flash Card Converter

Import Kindle flash cards into anki by converting them to a csv file.

This should work with all recent Kindles. I tested it with a Kindle Paperwhite 2015.

Usage

./kindle-flashcard-converter.sh /media/USER/Kindle/system/vocabulary/vocab.db

The output will be something like this:

The order of the fields is

1. The expression (result of cloze deletion).

2. The reading of the expression. It is likely to contain mistakes, just like all auto-generated readings.

3. The book title where this expression was found. Suggested use in anki is a tag.

4. (Optional) A dictionary lookup of the word.

Dictionary Lookups

If you have "eb" from https://github.com/Christoph-D/Tools in your PATH and if you provide a dictionary as the second parameter, then the script automatically adds Japanese dictionary lookups to the csv file.

Example output with dictionary lookups:
