- Node.js (v14 or higher)
- MongoDB
- npm or yarn
- Clone the repository
- Install dependencies for both client and server:
# Install server dependencies
cd server
npm install
# Install client dependencies
cd ../client
npm install
- Create a
.env
file in the server directory with the following variables:
MONGODB_URI=your_mongodb_connection_string
JWT_SECRET=your_jwt_secret
PORT=5000
- Start the development servers:
# Start the backend server
cd server
npm run dev
# In another terminal, start the frontend client
cd client
npm start
- Open your browser and navigate to
http://localhost:3000
