Lua version 5.4

What defines which lua version will be used by the computer?

In my case, version 5.1 is used but I would like to use version 5.4, but I don't know if the version will be the same in all editors, which makes writing plugins a little difficult.

Will the version be 5.1 for all plugins? You can see the lua version as follows:

How could I use version 5.4?

The gopher-lua package micro uses only supports Lua 5.1. As far as I know there is no way to make micro use any other Lua version.

And according to the #64 the version will not be updated. 😞
