[Bug] Crash when api.github.com is not accessible

Description

When api.github.com is not accessible for any reason (no Internet, or using a VPN for example), the app display an Unexpected Crash screen at startup, and then closes.

Reproduce

Steps to reproduce the behavior:

1. Disconnect from the Internet
2. Launch the app
3. Wait for a few seconds

Expected Behavior

The app should continue to work normally even if it cannot access api.github.com.
