Is there a script entity node?

I see there are entity nodes for switches, sensors, etc. I don't see one for creating/configuring scripts. Am I missing it, or is there a way to do this with some of the other nodes?

There isn’t a node to create scripts in Home Assistant. Why would you need to create a script from Node-RED? In my opinion, a script in Home Assistant is essentially a flow in Node-RED. You can always create a script directly in Home Assistant and call it from Node-RED if needed, but I don’t see a use case for creating a script dynamically from Node-RED.

I agree that HAOS scripts are generally equivalent to Node Red flows, so I never had a need for it before. However with Home Assistant 2024.9, they seem to be moving towards the use of scripts in place of iOS Actions for things like widgets or control center controls. This makes them a control method for phones, watches, and CarPlay.

I'm pretty sure they originally discussed making iOS Actions legacy in the release notes for 2024.9. However I don't see it anymore. It is still shown in the companion discussion (comments) for the release notes though. I'm therefore unsure if making iOS Actions legacy is still the plan.

Let me preface this by saying I don’t use iOS, so my knowledge is limited.

It looks like iOS actions fire an event to the Home Assistant event bus, whether triggered from the watch or phone. This can easily be captured using the "events: all" node in Node-RED. Based on what I read, this behavior doesn’t seem to be changing.

From there, you can trigger any flow inside Node-RED.

Yes you're correct, and that's what I currently do. I was just planning to get ahead for the coming changes and move to scripts as that seems to be where Home Assistant is moving towards with new features. I'll stick with what I have until some change occurs that really makes a difference. Thanks for the input.
