Running a wxm file in maxima.bat

The eval of a trig substitution does not seem to want to simplify sin(pi/2). It does when running wxMaxima.
The screenshot below shows an example.

Also, making the wxm file, I get results like this. It seems to be trying to evaluate the line. This is a syntax error when running the file as a demo in Maxima.bat

Yes, we know, that is the same problem, I reported in issue: #2014

If you want a file to be readable by command line Maxima, export it as ".mac"-file - I solved the problem at least for mac files, as linked in that issue.

The problem with wxm is, that the answer (e.g. for askinteger() or any other questions, Maxima asks), is saved in the wxm file, so that the given answer can be suggested, when it is opened.). Don't know, how to make that 'portable', so that older wxMaxima versions can read the file too.

Remark: As just documented in the manual, assume() may help to prevent that (wx)Maxima asks questions (which is the cause, that wxm files are not readable by command line Maxima).

I added the assume function but the generation of the wxm still has the question of three variable are positive or negative.

Why does it need to know this when it is just converting the text to an output?

Is there a setting in maxima.bat that stops simplifying sin(pi/2)?

Yes, Maxima's assume() function has deficiencies, see: https://maxima.sourceforge.io/docs/manual/maxima_singlepage.html#index-assume

You cat stop simplification using simp:false;
Remark: not suggested, many Maxima commands expect simplification to be enabled, see the documentation. That's not set in maxima.bat (a simple text file, you can inspect it with an text editor).

But these questions are better discussed on the Maxima mailing list or the Maxima bug tracker, they have nothing to do with wxMaxima, the graphical interface.
