I changed nothing and had only my 1 custom resoution set - yet the app changed it on its own to a super high resolution that was not listed. |

Yes, you can use the
Configuration Protection/Resolution
feature for that in the app menu under the Virtual Screen. But generally screens remember their resolution for a specific layout in macOS so if you add/remove a display, a new layout is loaded either with the default resolution or the last remembered one.You can also specify which resolutions are available for a virtual screen (create custom resolution list).
