How to stream and flip display A to display B? #2835
-
I have an external monitor connected with HDMI to my Macbook Pro. All I want to do is mirror my main Mac display and flip it on the external monitor. Lots of threads about iPads but this is not a wireless connection...it is direct HDMI. It seems that only by Streaming the Virtual Display works but no matter what I do clicking the Horizontal Flip button in the stream the external monitor does not flip. Sidecar is mentioned, but do I need to do something with Sidecar even if the monitor is directly connected to the Mac? I just need a simple flip of the main Mac monitor to an external monitor. |

Stream and flip should work fine to a HDMI connected display, there should be no difference. Can you share a screenshot of the app menu so I see how you configured things? |

The app ended up taking over my screen with something that I clicked on the Virtual monitor and I could not see where my mouse was and it wasn’t lining up with the windows on the screen so I had to fly blind to get it back.
Whenever I tried the virtual monitor and clicked the flip icon when I started streaming nothing changed.
I had to give up and used OBS to grab the display and use their very simple transform to flip the screen.
Mac really needs to add this to the Display setting…can’t be this hard and it is essential for many applications.
Possible to get a refund on the purchase? I cannot trust this software after it took over my screen and I had to fish around to get back to being able to use the laptop!
Probably operator error but way more complicated a solution than I need.
Thank you!

Right….It was not clear that the download version was the full version…many times it doesn’t have key features like this one.
It would be great to have a very simple tutorial on your site that ONLY flips horizontally the main mac monitor to a connected HDMI monitor.
If you could do that 10,000 people would line up to buy it!

Hi there,
I understand you had some difficulties with the app.
About the issue: I am not sure I understand the use case. With OBS you probably did not use a virtual screen, just transformed the content of real screen 1 to real screen 2. Why then did you try to create a virtual screen with BetterDisplay to begin with if you did not need it? If you have a virtual screen but can't access its content, you can peek into virtual screen easily by opening a PIP window for it. You can simply turn the virtual screen off either from the app menu or define keyboard shortcuts to do so (if you somehow loose the mouse). If for some reason the virtual screen was set as main display (if I understand properly, this is what caused the issue?), you can easily change that in the app menu as well.
Normally there is no refund (see the license terms). The reasoning is that there is a lengthy 14 day trial period with full functionality unlocked to encourage potential users to properly try the app before purchasing it. This rather generous trial is provided because processing a refund is complicated and impractical process for both the user and myself so I try to avoid that. However if you still want a refund, I'll make an exception for you 😃 - please contact me directly on the app's Discord channel as I need various purchase details to identify your transaction and initiate the process with Paddle or you can submit a special request via Paddle (which acts as a distributor for the software) with an appropriate explanation - this should eventually get to me with the appropriate information attached so I can initiate the process.
Thanks!

Better yet, can you send a simple step by step to make the Mac monirot flipped horizontally on an HDMI connected display?
I only saw it in the Stream Virtual monitor setting.

Stream Display
under the source display's block in the app menu and choose the desired display on which you want to see the flipped image (on the example image below it'sGP27-FUS
) as target.
