Google 3D Building Tiles Loading in Area Far From The Desired Area #404
Comments
Hi @psucivengr The central part of Washington, DC doesn't contain 3D content (buildings, trees). The section Introduction of the documentation describes how to see the areas with 3D content. |
What the heck...I specifically picked that area as a demo because I remembered seeing the 3D buildings in Google Earth. Google must have removed it, it doesn't show up in Google Earth anymore either. Sigh...thanks, Google. But some of the buildings around it still show up in Google Earth. Odd. Guess I'll try again with a different area, thanks! |
I tried using the Google 3D Tiles import on a test area in Washington, DC. In the below screenshot, the area circled in blue is what was imported from OSM terrain/Mapbox imagery. The area circled in red is where the 3D buildings came in and the rest of the imagery is on a plane that came with the 3D buildings import (but no buildings). I tried buildings with details and buildings with more details; the result was the same for both. This is definitely an area that should have 3D buildings and the area where the buildings came in is outside of the area I selected. My test coordinates (can be pasted directly into the add-on) are: -77.017576,38.887442,-77.005983,38.89477
Any idea why this is happening?
