voxel-example spontaneously broken

voxel-example — even the static demo at http://deathcap.github.io/voxel-example/ — no longer works, at least on my machines (Chrome 47.0.2526.106 on OS X 10.11.2), hits this issue:

voxel/voxel-shader#11 gl-shader: Error compling vertex shader: ERROR: 0:18: '=' : global variable initializers must be constant expressions

and then it cannot be installed for development, due to (related issues):

voxel/voxelmetaverse#60 nonexistent dependency (esprima-six unpublished)
