Tools handles in the client?

I'm having trouble integrating streamText on my server with useChat on my client. Specifically, I'm struggling with the execution functions within the tools object.

When I include the execute functions in the tools object for streamText on the server, they work as expected. However, if I leave these functions out on the server, hoping to handle them on the client side instead, nothing happens.

It appears that useChat expects a differently formatted tools object compared to streamText. I suspect this discrepancy might be causing the issue, but I'm not sure how to resolve it.

Does anyone have experience or a working example of using tools objects with useChat that they could share? Any assistance or pointers would be greatly appreciated!

Is there a simple way to get tool callbacks on the client with the current implementation that I can use until this is finished?

It might not be exactly what you need, but it might work for the time being. Or you go with the legacy approach.
