Cannot visualize local variables when debugging under Rust 1.62

I updated today to Rust 1.62 to use a new feature, and the variable visualization in the sidebar appears with empty values.

I have tried the steps outlined in the wiki to troubleshoot, updated everything that could be updated, restarted, etc etc. No dice. It happens in any rust project i have, with whatever launch configuration. Currently the simplest i have is this one:

I have managed to reproduce the issue with this setup.

I have no clue what is going on, if i check the memory, all the data is there, and things are executing correctly so the only issue is that i cannot find any useful data on the side panel. This issue didn't happen before the rust update and nothing else changed. I updated via Rustup, maybe that messed up something somewhere.
