is it possible to request mobile specific builds? for example i tried installing each once, both resulted in a bootloop. since it was the last root thing ive done, it was easy to pinpoint that both didnt work on my phones. deleting em from my /system/fonts worked just fine. im still keeping em in my /system/etc/fonts.xml since i dont see any issues

my unique setup is android 11 (havoc), nikgapps core, magisk delta 25.2, nerdfont 3.3.0 hack, unifont + csur + upper otf 16.0.2, various patched emoji and subsetted fonts from xda

Just out of curiosity, what exactly did you have in mind in terms of a mobile-specific build? Without a concrete suggestion, such a request is not actionable.

im not too sure about the specifics, but some examples ottomh

  • google noto fonts (including emojis) work just fine for pc and android without specific builds. unifont family also work fine. nersfonts thankfully work with no issues too
  • windows specific svg fonts work with android (>a13 required), but are skewed way off. their older emojis dont work tho, but dont cause bootloop. a good telegram channel that fixes fonts to be android specific is https://t.me/rkbdiemoji from https://github.com/RadekBledowski
  • android specific fonts (like google sans) dont render well on desktop without patches
  • the lastresorts here work fine on all of my win and lin pcs, but bootloop my androids

its been a long time since ive devd on android and dont remember which things id have to enable to allow adb logging during boot. my /proc/last_kmg and /sys/fs/pstore arent really handy atm

if someone has a rooted android and can fiddle with recovery and logging it could help a ton. i guess this issue could be closed without concrete proof on what these mobile specific patches are since i cant seem to nail the correct key words

In case you have not already tried this, my only suggestion would be to try to install only LastResort-Regular.ttf. LastResortHE-Regular.ttf uses the more efficient Format 13 'cmap' subtable, which is not universally supported. If you have been trying to install both font resources at the same time, this is likely your issue.
