disttrial / trial -j should support debug prints

It's annoying to stick a print statement into a test, run it under disttrial, and then be unable to see those print statements; particularly in CI, where I don't even know how to get the individual worker logs out.

I wrote some code to do this in #12150 which kinda worked, and could be extracted when someone has the time.
