A while back we were playing with the idea of backing Media assets with a .csv file to store additional data about the Media assets.
I believe this could allow us to add all sorts of meta data to media files regardless of its location (Git repo, S3 bucket, etc). Also, this would allow us to do things like search media assets or sort by date, like we do for other content.
