The PS1 catalogue has mimicked SDSS in that they have a unique big integer to represent each individual sources in the catalogue, but also a more human-intuitive 'PSO' (Panstarrs Object) name, which is a mashup of the object's coordinates.

For example the source with objId 94220009480508687 lives here:

https://catalogs.mast.stsci.edu/panstarrs/detections.html?objID=94220009480508687

And has raMean = "0.94803208" and decMean = "-11.47648632", therefore is given the human-intuitive name of PSO J000.9480-11.4765

The task here is to:

  1. create the PSO name and
  2. link the name directory to the source's page on MAST

Using the (new?) MAST API this has become much easier:

https://catalogs.mast.stsci.edu/api/v0.1/panstarrs/dr2/mean.csv?objID=94220009480508687
