Question: how to set a complex parameter

I am trying to set a complex parameter namely the 'provider-Machine' parameter which has a bunch of sub parameters. It is unclear to me how I need to do this. Do you have an example when using code like: catalog_request.set_parameters('provider-Machine', giant_hash)
