Under what circumstances does a basic group chat get upgraded to a supergroup chat? Why did the group chat I just created get upgraded to a supergroup chat after a period of time? What actions trigger this upgrade process?'

It is upgraded automatically only if the number of members becomes too big. In all other cases the owner must upgrade it.
